Many refer to the Abyssinian as the “wash and wear” cat. When an aby is being shown, simple grooming techniques are generally done 2 to 3 days before the show. At the show a chamois is rubbed on the coat to give a shiny coat. Sometimes a special sheen product is used as well.

As an aby owner, grooming is extremely simple. The aby requires only weekly brushing and combing which will remove the dead or lose hair. Nail trimming is done on a “as need basis”.
